Crappie Fishing on Enid Lake!
Enid Lake became my favorite place to fish some thirty four years ago. After a few trips I realized that no place on earth could offer more consistent large catches of both black and white Crappie than this 28,000 acre delta flood control lake in Yalobusha county Mississippi. After all, the world record crappie was produced by this scenic body of water. The fish weighed in at 5 pounds, 3 ounces and was caught by Fred Bright of Memphis, Tennessee on July 31, 1957. Each time I sink a jig in the water of Enid I anticipate the next jerk to be a new record. Would you permit me to share this excitement with you?
Enid is just one of the Mississippi lakes managed by professional biologists on staff with Delta Wildlife Foundation and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
Lots of fishermen/women caught lots of fish during the spring of 2004 and it looks like perhaps it will be another great fall for finding a slab or two or more here on Enid Lake. The excitement is beginning to swell. The avid fishermen are calling about the conditions, etc.
